'Making Futures: the crafts in the context of emerging global sustainability agendas' will be held on Thursday 17th and Friday 18th September 2009 within the magnificently sited Mount Edgcumbe estate on the River Tamar opposite the city of Plymouth, Devon, UK.

The Conference Ferry

A specially chartered conference ferry will take delegates from Plymouth across the River Tamar to the ferry point at Mount Edgcumbe, departing  from the famous Mayflower Steps on the Barbican Harbour.

For access from Cornwall, head for Liskeard then follow the A38 to the Trerulefoot roundabout, then the A374 (Torpoint) and B3247 (brown signs) to Millbrook and Mount Edgcumbe. Allow 45 minutes travel time from Liskeard.

Once you have parked your car, an electric bus runs within the Park.  A convenient bus stop is located near the Lower Park Front Gate.

Conference accommodation

The City of Plymouth has visitor accommodation to suit all needs - from quality hotels to excellent value for money B&B's.

However, a special conference accommodation rate is available to 'Making Futures' delegates at the city centre Jurys Inn Hotel for £71 per night, including breakfast. Jurys Inn Plymouth is one of the newest Plymouth hotels and offers superior budget accommodation in an excellent city centre location adjacent to the historic harbour area.

As a special promotion for our Conference,Jurys Inn have offered to allow delegates to share rooms with accompanying partners (all have double beds as standard) at no extra cost.
