Abstracts for papers and practice-based presentations:

Conference papers and presentations will be selected by international double-blind peer review on the basis of:

  • Maximum 500-word abstracts submitted by e-mail.
  • Maximum 500-word abstracts and a URL link to appropriate audio-visual materials in the case of practice-based presentations.

Selection will be based upon:

  • Significance and relevance to the conference theme.
  • Clarity in the way the issues and positions are developed and presented.

To ensure the widest possible dissemination of the conference outcomes, all conference papers and presentations will be published as open-access academic resource through the conference website. Plymouth College of Art will maintain this as a long-term open-access research resource.

Full papers must conform to the style guide that has been prepared to facilitate publication.  Full papers should be between 3,000 words with a top limit of 6,000 words, including references. Papers that do not conform may not be published. More information about full papers will be published soon.

Selected and revised conference papers and practice-based presentations:

Additionally, it is intended that a number of conference papers and presentations will be selected for revisions and print-publication as a special post-conference thematic edition. Selected authors will be offered the opportunity to revise and resubmit their papers according to the comments of the editorial team. The selected and revised papers and presentations will be expected to conform to the style guide prepared for conference papers.

Authors will be asked to assign copyright of the paper and presentations to the conference organisers (Plymouth College of Art). This will permit the College to authorise reprints, photocopies and re-publication according to demand; nonetheless, authors retain proprietary rights and veto over third party publication. Authors wishing to publish elsewhere must first seek permission from the organisers and will be required to credit them as the original publishers of the paper.
